Routing
Arrival by car: Take the alpine toll road to hotel Steinerhaus.
Arrival by train: Transfer to Steinerhaus on arrival day – on the last day departure from Bad Aussee.
1st Day: Individual arrival in Gröbming.
- Overnight stay at the Steinerhaus above Gröbming.
2nd Day: Start your hiking tour to the Viehbergalm alpine pasture.
- ca. 10 km, 3 - 4 hrs, altitude difference ascent 364 m / descent 752 m
- Overnight stay at Viehbergalm/Ritzinger lodge – shower is available and included!
- Luggage transfer from Gröbming to Bad Mitterndorf where you spend the following night.
- Overnight backpack for the night at the Ritzinger lodge has to be carried by yourself!
3rd Day: From Viehbergalm proceed via Hochmühleck to Steinitzenalm. Descent to Bad Mitterndorf.
- ca. 13 km, 4 hrs, altitude difference ascent 422 m / descent 1,080 m
- Overnight stay in Bad Mitterndorf.
4th Day: Hike to Steinitzenalm past Ödensee Lake to Bad Aussee (alternatively by train from Bad Mitterndorf to Bad Aussee).
- ca. 18 km, 5 - 6 hrs, altitude difference ascent 475 m / descent 628 m
Arrival by car: Train ride back to Gröbming from train station Gröbming transfer to Steinerhaus and individual departure.
Arrival by train: Luggage pick up in Bad Aussee, shower opportunity, individual departure.
Luggage transfer from Bad Mitterndorf to Steinerhaus or Bad Aussee.

- 3 x overnight stays with alpine breakfast (2x in ***inn/hotel, 1x in mountain huts - bedclothes, towels and running water available)
- 1 x welcome video with explanations and information that you need for the tour

- 1 x train ticket from Bad Aussee to Grobming (for arrivals by car)
- 1 x transfer from Grobming to Steinerhaus

Local tax is extra to pay on spot in each accommodation (from € 1,00 to € 4,00 per person/per night)
Notes on staying at an Alpine lodge:
- *Hut sleeping bag: blankets are available in the huts; necessary but mandatory is only a lightweight cotton/silk sleeping bag liner
- The Covid-19 protective measures valid at the time must be observed.
- Due to their location, not all huts can offer running water, hot water or showers. In some cases there is also no flushing system in the toilets.
- On most huts, card payment is not possible. Take enough cash with you for food and drinks.
- Dogs on request; not allowed in the sleeping areas. Attended stay in the winter room possible, partly dog kennels available, extra costs to be paid on spot.
We recommend travel cancellation insurance.
