The Classic

1^st Day: Individual arrival in Gosau right next to the Dachstein mountain range.

• Overnight stay in Gosau.

2^nd Day: Cable car from the Gosausee Lake to the Zwieselalm, hike to the Hofpürglhütte.

• ca. 10 km, 4 - 5 hrs, altitude difference ascent 850 m / descent 860 m
• Overnight stay at the Hofpürglhütte.
• Luggage transfer from Gosau to the Türlwand where you spend the following night.
• Overnight backpack and sleeping bag for the night at the Hofpürglhütte have to be carried by yourself!

3^rd Day: High altitude hike from the Hofpürglhütte to the Südwandhütte, descent to the Türlwand.

• ca. 12,5 km, 6 hrs, altitude difference ascent 895 m / descent 882 m
• Overnight stay in Ramsau am Dachstein.

4^th Day: For the alpine hike to Guttenberghaus two variants are possible:

1. Walk from the hotel over the Ramsau plateau and ascent on trail 616 to Guttenberghaus. Recommended in cloudy and foggy weather conditions.
   ca. 6,5 km, 4 - 5 hrs, altitude difference ascent 1,044 m / descent 69 m
2. Ascent by cable car to the Dachstein glacier (to be paid on spot). High altitude hike on trail 674 to Guttenberghaus.
   ca. 9,5 km, 4 - 5 hrs, altitude difference ascent  264 m / descent 861 m

• Overnight stay at Guttenberghaus.
• Luggage transfer from the Türlwand to Gröbming where you spend the following night
• Overnight backpack and sleeping bag for the night at the Guttenberghaus have to be carried by yourself!

ATTENTION: If you decide to take the route via the Dachstein glacier it is very important to make a reservation for your gondola ride here: www.derdachstein.at - at minimum 1 week in advance. Otherwise the gondola could be fully booked. For the reservation guests are responsible for themselves.

5^th Day: High altitude hike from Guttenberghaus over the plateau “Am Stein” and Grafenbergalm to the Stoderzinken.

• ca. 13 km, 6 hrs, altitude difference ascent  552 m / descent 860 m
• Overnight stay at the Steinerhaus above Gröbming.

6^th Day: Hike from the Stoderzinken past the Notgasse (rock gorge with up to 2,000 year old chiselled rock art) to the Viehbergalm and further over the Hochmühleck to the Steinitzenalm. Descent to Bad Mitterndorf and overnight in Bad Mitterndorf 

• ca. 22 km, 7 hrs, altitude difference ascent 627 m / descent 286 m
• Luggage transfer from Gröbming to Bad Mitterndorf.

7^th Day: By train from Bad Mitterndorf to Bad Aussee. Hike through the Koppen valley along the Traun River to Obertraun and to the train station of Hallstatt. We recommend a visit of the Koppenbrüller Cave in this area. Ferry ride to Hallstatt.

• ca. 15 km, 4-5 hrs, altitude difference ascent 166 m / descent 286 m
• Overnight stay in Hallstatt.
• Luggage transfer from Bad Mitterndorf to Hallstatt

8^th Day: Take the ferry from Hallstatt market to Hallstatt train station. You hike along the eastern lake shore of Lake Hallstaettersee to Au and further on to Bad Goisern. Ascent to Goiserer lodge via Trockentannalm.

• ca. 17 km, 7 hrs, altitude difference ascent 1,108 m / descent 52 m
• Overnight stay in Goiserer lodge. 
• Overnight backpack and sleeping bag for the night in the Goiserer lodge have to be carried by yourself.

9^th Day: Descent past the Iglmoosalm to Gosau

• ca. 7 km, 2-3 hrs, altitude difference ascent 46 m / descent 873 m
• Luggage transport from Hallstatt to Gosau.
• Luggage pick-up in Gosau.
