The tour
There is a reason why the Dachstein is also called "Austria's Touring Eldorado". Over 20 ski tours, crossings, and steep descents can be tackled from the Dachstein Gondola Mountain Station and Ramsau.
Turn-by-turn directions

Ascent: beautiful ski tour at the foot of the Dachstein Südwände. The ski tour starts from Gasthof Dachsteinruhe and leads towards Bachlalm. At the Schaidalm, the ski tour goes through the larch forest towards Sulzenhals. Follow the path to the right and start your ascent of the Tor.

Descent: along the ascent route there are many varied descents. For experienced ski tourers, there are two other variants - they are only recommended to experts!

Rötelstein (very difficult): Follow the trail on the left to Rötelstein.

Windlegerscharte (very difficult): Follow the trail on the right and ascend to the Scharte (col).

Have to be on the tour: Avalanche transceiver, mobile phone, shovel, avalanche probe, first aid kit, sufficient food and drinks, possibly additional clothing to change.

On the day of the tour: Read the avalanche situation report and weather forecast and check what effects it will have on the planned tour - possibly adjust or cancel the tour. Are all participants fit and healthy enough to go on the tour? If not, adjust or cancel the tour.
