Via Ferrata Siega
moderate closed Via ferratas · C/D · Ramsau am Dachstein
Over two weeks of construction, 260 metres of steel cable and numerous pegs were mounted. No modern elements, such as rope bridges, were added to this classic sports Via Ferrata. The route is named after Siegmund, the owner of the Stangalm.
In some places, the rock is very crumbly. For experienced via ferrata fans, the combination of all 3 via ferratas in the Silberkarklamm is ideal, with Siega Klettersteig guaranteeing a great conclusion.
Access: through the Silberkar Canyon to the Silberkarhütte. Follow the ‘Zugang zum Klettersteig Siega C/D‘signpost behind the hut. A steep passage leads up the hill to the entrance, which you reach after passing by a notice board to your right.
Descent: keep your Via Ferrata kit on and follow the secured A/B passage down a rock. From there follow the narrow path to trail no. 619, which leads you back to the start.
Arriving from the west:
From the west you can take the Munich-Salzburg motorway, continuing on the Tauern motorway (A 10) until the Ennstal junction. From here take the Ennstal A-road (the B 320) for around 30 km into the Schladming-Dachstein region, then take the Ramsau am Dachstein turn-off. Then straight ahead 4 km and directly after the bridge turn left and follow "Silberkarklamm" signs.
Arriving from the north:
From the south-east take the Pyhrnautobahn motorway (A 9) to the Liezen junction and then the Ennstal A-road (B 320) into the Schladming-Dachstein region. Then take the Ramsau am Dachstein turn-off. Then straight ahead 4 km and directly after the bridge turn left and follow "Silberkarklamm" signs.
The starting point can be reached by hiking bus (in operation from 25.6.2022). From the bus stop "Ramsau Silberkarklamm" short walk up to the gorge entrance.
