Ramsau am Dachstein

The Austriahütte, a hut of the Austrian Alpine Association, benefits from its beautiful location at 1.638 m to the foot of the Dachstein. The Austriahütte was built in 1880 and is, therefore, the oldest standing mountain shelter of the Dachstein massif. It is also home to Styria’s highest situated museum.

The building offers two cosy lounges with views onto the south face of the Dachstein and the Bischofsmütze.
There are 43 beds separated into 2-bed, 3-bed, 4-bed and 5-bed rooms as well as a 16-bed dorm.

Payment: By Card or Cash possible!

Getting here

There are 2 options to get to the Austriahütte: from Gasthof Edelbrunn (1.340 m) walk along the forestry road, past Dachsteinhaus and Brandalm or via the Roseggersteig (more strenous) for approx. 60 minutes until you reach the Austriahütte. The other option will take you onto the toll road (€ 20) up to the bottom station of the Dachstein Gondola and the parking lot Türlwandhütte (1.695 m). From there, walk along a little trail until you reach the forestry road leading to the Austriahütte. The 2nd option is less strenous and it does not have any steep inclines.
